Then one time while I was using MPutty to ssh to my test servers, it occurs to me if there is a tool similar to MPutty that will allow me to open multiple cygwin on a tabbed window. After some searching I found this app Consolez. Consolez allows you to open multiple cmd(command) windows and for my case multiple cygwin windows in tabbed window. You can also customize several properties like background & foreground colors. For me, what I appreciate about consolez is that it’s portable (meaning no installation required, just unzip the file and click on the application).
Here is how to setup cygwin within consolez:
* I assume that cygwin is already installed.
1. Download consolez
2. Extract the zip file and place it on your preferred directory.
3. Open the consolez application (console.exe)
4. Click on edit-> settings
5. On ConsoleZ Settings window :
a. Click on Tabs
b. Click on Add
c. Change Title to Cygwin
d. On shell select the Cygwin.bat on Cygwin installation directory.
e. Click Ok.
To open a cygwin instance :
a. Click on File -> New Tab -> Cygwin
